Hence my question. A r25 should have a normal ratchet screw

Well, I am not sure... I did not notice at the first place, but the 3 exemples I gave above and the one given by Tony C. show a 3 slots ratchet wheel screw. And I have checked on Ranfft site, his exemple has a 3 slots ratchet wheel as well. Moreover, if you try "Lip R25" on Google, you will see that most of the first examples (I have stopped after 30 or 40) have the same device.

    http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&Lip_R25

I am not saying that all R 25 are this way. But I think we can conclude it is not unusual...

Actually, not a bid deal! We agreed in our previous messages that old Lip with in house movements are most often a very good stuff at a decent price. I think that is what matters here.

Which caliber? Most often, Dauphine watches do not have a Lip caliber, but they can be very nice though!

Concerning the R 25 ratchet wheel ´s screw, I guess they are variations. Lip calibers have many of them...

The R 23 would probably be the in bouse caliber with the most important variations, by the R 25 seems to have as well... I knew about the ones concerning the hairspring (Bréguet or flat), the escape wheel jewels (cap jewels or not, and différent kind of caps), but did not notice untill now the ratchet wheel screw!

    Incoming!
Just won this Lip watch at an auction. The model is reputedly called the Frigo ("Fridge").
I learned it was designed by Roger Tallon (who also designed the brand of the French TGV).
The caliber is either the electronic powered balance wheel R50, R52 or R53 (can anyone provide extra information?).
I should receive it next week and will add a few of my own pictures.

I'd like to add something here.. Nothing really extraordinary but something that'll make me very happy when all the bits and bobs sit into place... They made a bomb timer at one time from the info I have gathered (Konrad Knirims book) it was indeed a WW2 era production.
Same case design and function as the much better known Zenith one...
I'm missing the hand but the glass and everything else is there. I have the electromechanic diver currently with my watchmaker - I guess the only non swiss watch aside from Seiko i currently own.

The LIP R27 certainly counts as a unique watch. The first electronic watch with a diode. Circa 1958.

I was tempted to pick up a Lip Tachymeter a few years ago. Namely due to the retro looking dial, wonderful domed shaped crystal and red accentuated markers. Have still managed to keep this one in the collection, movement is an R830. Dating back to 1970/71 from the Lip catalogue.

That looks like an EPSA case but not a super compressor or compressor caseback, could you maybe post the inner side of the caseback? It'd be much appreciated!
I'd love to match my NautcSki with a "period" chrono. It'd be much appreciated!

Sure thing. Will dig it out hopefully tomorrow and get back with an update. The cases on these are very pleasing on the wrist. Particularly in relation to the whole depth.

Agreed, the NauticSki with its 36mm is one of the most comfortable and best fitting watches I have, I especially like the bubble crystal and how it all fits so nice when on a tropic band.

Agreed, they are such great watches. I've had a handfull pass through my hands, but have been building my own collection of the variants.

Here's my grey dial, First generation (1966 only) and the US market Belforte.

The R27 is on my grail list since electrics are my bread and butter.

I’ve always loved the looks of the Lip supercompressors, but the “electronic” models have always scared me. I know there are only a handful of watchmakers that still work on Bulova/Accutron electronics- are there the same issues with the Lip movements? They appear to have a balance like the early Hamilton electronic movements but I have no experience with those personally- but the same fear of them.

I guess it comes around as my fear of Omega Hummers, I've sent mine to be adjusted and rehauled to a watchmaker in Hungary, if all goes well I'll post about all of that.
The thing is the caliber in them pops up from time to time on french ebay and the coils etc seem to go for only a few € so I'm not quite as scared but worried - sure. I've read about fitting the wrong type of battery but correct voltage can also damage the movement.
