Should be a gold plated crown with a gold plated case. The crown could be original, and just lost its plating.

    It happens.

Here is the case back it was inscribed but has been worn down. It was given as a appreciation gift based on the sellers info. I assume these came with the raised hippocampus correct? If so any idea where I could find one? Thank you.

Generally yes. However, Omega made flat casebacks for some references specifically for presentation watches.

This could be one of them.

From your experience and knowledge it is safe to assume this watch is correct in terms of originality? What caught my eye was the linen dial.
