Blue? Gosh.... Good try but just not my cuppa, this new issue certainly will make the vintages appreciate more ....

 

Just had a quick look and I really don't see how that new watch relates to a 2998 in any way, shape or form. Talk about trying to squeeze every last drop of $$$ out of the Omega collecting community. It just seems to me that with all these vintage inspired re-issues, re-releases and non-homage homages that the Swiss watch industry as a whole has realised they actually peaked from a design/functionality perspective somewhere around the late 50's early 60's

seeing this photo now i don't think i like it as much. but it just might be the harsh lighting.

 

Base 1000 Tachy and lollipop seconds hand? That's pretty cool!

 

Overall great looking watch but not so fan of the very white lume of the hands, especially the lollipop

Much better than fake aged lumen, IMO. This is a modern watch, like the FOIS, that has the classic lines. Will age much more gracefully than those released with pre-patinated lume.

 

I like it a lot actually.

If that price quoted above is correct, I'm surprised they aren't trying to sell it for more, being a limited edition and all.

 

I think it looks great! I agree with @ConElPueblo the white lume is better than the faux patina. I just wish they did it in black as opposed to blue.

 

Not sure if I like it, yet. Certainly don't hate it, but I need to decide if I like that blue or not. I know that I much prefer the blue on the Gemini IV limited edition...

I think I quite like the retro feel of the tachy scale vs the dial vs the sub-registers.

 

I'm not a big fan of this or the FOIS. You would think that Omega would at least get the lollipop correct. I don't actually own a 2998 with lollipop (YET) but I'm fairly certain that in the early 2998s the lollipop disc passed directly over the Omega logo. Surprised Omega botched this up.

 

Would look better on a rich brown leather strap. Otherwise meh.

 

among the FOISes, I prefer the original as it feels more like an honest re-interpretation of the original.
