I am curious to see how the OF feels on this. My own thoughts are that is seems sort of gimmicky and a way to sell sore watches. What say you?
I’d agree. Big fan of the films, but wouldn’t want to invest that kind of money on something that feels a little like movie merchandise.
Can’t say I’m keen. I like the association but don’t want 007 plastered all over my watch. Any Aston with a 007 number plate is as a cool as f@%k though. Go figure?!
Well, let's not say "hate"...but I sure don't like them, or any watch with something specifically gimmicky on it, "007", "Ryder Cup" etc. Pity though, because I like everything about the Ryder Cup AT except for it announcing that fact, especially on the display case back.
Spectre 300 was cool because it wasn't covered in 007 and other James Bond gimmicks on the face. Hopefully Omega learns from this and keeps the Bond branding fairly minimal.
My boss actually got into Omega BECAUSE OF the 007 Limited Editions. I think he has 5 of them now and loves them all. Plans to leave them to his sons someday.
The only ones I have a real hankering for are the Casino Royale models. I stupidly turned down the PO for I think about £1,300 not long after it came out; didn't have the money at the time but I've always regretted it nonetheless.
I couldn’t agree more. Spectre 300 is a great watch in its own right. Whereas the branding on the older bond watches is excessive. Hopefully Omega keeps to the ‘KISS’ principle on the next bond watch.
The 300 Spectre is a fantastic looking watch with the brushed center links, lollipop hand and alternate bezel insert. I think it is by far the best of the Omega 007 LE. Sky fall PO is nice too ... I did not buy either. I regret not buying the Spectre ...
Depends on what you're looking for. I have the LE from Casino Royale received as my graduation gift from my mother, I'm a huge Bond books and movie fan, and since Goldeneye I wanted a seamaster. I also collect guns so the association between the Seamaster, Bond and the Walther PPK rifling on the dial made this LE the best Seamaster I could hope for.
Generally too many 007s even for me ;-) When I was initially buying my SMP they did command a premium, not sure where the market is now. They also seemed to be faked alot
I always consider the film worn versions the real bond watches and look at the special editions as advertisements. That being said I do love the spectre 300.
