The Pilot iroshzulu inks are absolutely my favorites. I use tsuyu-kusa which is a dark blue with a hint of turquoise. Also reasonably priced compared to rip-off MontBlanc ink.

I find it fascinating how those of us who are drawn to the precision and beauty of Time pieces find the same sensual joy in holding a fine writing instrument in our hands. To me there is something about the aesthetic beauty of how one is crafted,
And of course how it feels in the hand. Next to winding a great watch - holding a fountain pen as it glides across the page is one of life’s great personal pleasures. I’ve had a 4 set of burgundy Mont Blanc for over 20 years
And each time still feels good. Recently just bought the Mont Blanc JFK pen.
Truly a treasure. ( Saw this in Starbucks...no pics )

I guess my pen equivalent of Omega is Parker. “45s” followed me through school, college and much of my engineering career. Come to think of it I guess they are also about 45 years old now.
A nice mix of Made in England and Made in USA

I had the 45 Insignia modded as I didn’t care for the original black plastic tail cap.

and much like my watch collection, a few others have been added over the years

I watched a video someone posted of a Japanese man crafting a fountain pen a few weeks ago. It was amazing to watch, and I sent the video to my wife who has beautiful penmanship. She flipped out over the fountain pen and looked into buying one from this man but it turned out they are about 2k. So she abandoned it. Then today I was killing some time reading this thread and looking at the beautiful fountain pens here I decided to get her one for Christmas. I thought this would be a good second gift since the only gift I bought her was a bottle of 2002 vintage champagne (she is a Sommelier and that is what I usually get her). I know nothing about fountain pens, but, thought she would enjoy it as she loves to write note cards ect. It’s a Parker with rose gold nib.

If you want to go vintage a silver Parker 75 is a good choice. Good ones can be found in the 150-250 range. They take the current crop of piston type fillers. The nibs are interchangeable with about a dozen to choose from.

With the Gov't issue Skilcraft a back up is a necessity. My family used to have boxes of them laying around the house. Both my parents were Army and then went on to work for the V.A. until they retired.

I still have my pencils from my stint working at the VA hospital.

Used a great Waterman for several years until it sadly got lost in a move. Had a few mont Blancs over the years but never seemed to have good luck with them. Parkers are great, especially some of their vintage fountain pieces. However, I was just gifted an absolutely beautiful roller-ball Laban for Christmas.

Hard to see in these pics, but the acrylic does a beautiful impression of young ivory in person. Smooth writing, good weight, and the cap secures to the base with a strong magnet ring. I've liked Laban for a while, but this one is quickly becoming a new favorite.

Sterling silver Montegrappa ballpoint. Like some of the watches it is developing its own patina.
