Hi OF, I am new to this forum and just stumbled on it while searching vintage watches for sale. I inherited my dad's Omega Constellation many years ago when he passed away during my teenage years. It has always had great sentimental value to me, but I never wore it as I always liked larger watches. I recently had it serviced and bought an aftermarket strap and new-style Omega buckle for it. I have recently come to really appreciate vintage watches and I became intrigued with learning more about the Omega brand in general, and this watch in particular. I have read Desmond's dissertation and found it extremely informative. Sorry but I don't know the model number or any other information other than it is a C-cased Constellation plated in gold or maybe rose gold? It has a T Swiss Made T dial and I believe the dial and hands to be original. I found that if I charge the dial with a bright flashlight, the hour plots and hands glow brightly for a minute or two. Is this normal for old tritium to still glow like this? I know that some of the tritium used on Rolex's from the 60's also glows for a short period of time. I would love to hear comments about this as it has me questioning the originality of the dial and hands.

Also, just to make sure I am setting the date correctly (it does have the quickset date), is the correct method to pull the crown out to its terminal position and then push it in, repeat out/in until it advances to the correct date?

Any more insight you guys can provide will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards...Brad

I believe it is a Ref. 168.017. I think dial and hands are original also.

You can find a digital copy of the instructions here:

Gatorcpa, thanks for that. I just had a look at the link you provided and it seems I am changing the date correctly. I just wasn't sure as I'm accustomed to rotating the crown in position 3 to set a date on other watches. Great info. I appreciate your reply regarding the originality of the hands and dial as well. I'd be very surprised if they were ever changed, but I was definitely surprised to see the lume glow after all these years. BTW, I'm a Gator as well!

Welcome aboard. Nice looking Omega. I like stories like this where someone gets older and starts to appreciate something handed down to them. I bet your glad you held on to it and didn't sell it years ago to finance an Atari 2600 or something 😀
Enjoy wearing it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm really glad I found this forum and hope to educate myself and become an active participant. I have a new passion for Vintage Omega watches. This seems like a great group of people and I've found that it's often the people we meet while pursuing our interests that help to build this passion.

Nice looking watch you have and welcome aboard. In addition to having, what looks like, a lovely original dial it has a very sharp case. It appears that your father took good care of this gem.
