And not always is safe to sell on eBay. If the buyer claims he did not received the watch, even if he lies, Paypal will back him up 99% of the times, so the seller is screwed. He will loose both the watch and the funds.
Tracked and Signed For shipping costs a little bit more but is worth it.

That is true too, forgot about that. Another thing to consider is that while PayPal might potentially side with "seller", the buyer can always file unauthorized use with Card company and get it reverted even if PayPal would not, it kinda becomes PayPal's problem then but it's such a piece of shit company, you never know.
Nope. If the buyer's CC reverses the transaction for unauthorized use, PayPal immediately charges it right back to your account plus an additional fee (I believe it's $20); and they won't even entertain any argument whatsoever about the underlying transaction. Seller is 100% SOL.

Did not know that, not surprised, selling anything valueable and accepting Paypal is just nightmare waiting to happen, I lost only 200$ back in my early years, I would say it was most valuable lesson one could learn.

On the other hand, I've done hundreds of PayPal transactions over the past several years, both on eBay and PayPal directly, and haven't been scammed once. Do your due diligence as a seller, ship with tracking, insurance and direct signature, and things will be fine. It would be hard for a buyer to claim they didn't receive an item, or do a chargeback for an unauthorized transaction, when they signed for the item, wouldn't it?

There was a thread on TZUK where a guy did all that, had est delivery in 3 weeks after 2 weeks buyer filed that he didn't receive the goods, got refunded. Paypal didn't care that on the tracking the package was signed for and delivered few days later.

I don't know the story you're citing, but basically it becomes urban legend and every PayPal user is treated as a scammer. It's the extreme exception and not the rule, but it becomes treated as such.

Well, it was thread from earlier this year I am not sure if it wouldnt be against rules to link to different forum, so I will not tempt fate. I read at least 2 separate threads where package was insured, tracked and delivered and paypal still refunded the buyer even though he did not return the watch.

And here's a similar story from today from this forum where PayPal did rule in this seller's favor....

This happened to me too, but with a better ending. Buyer was from India and the package was stuck in customs for months. Ebay refunded him the amount, and days later the package cleared customs and he got the watch.

Good thing was that the buyer was honest enough to resend payment.

That isn't happening. Have you recently seen their share price?

How long will that last now that word is out eBay is dropping PayPal?
