Let us see your aero-military watch. Being from Sweden, my favourite is of course the Lemania issued to the Viggen pilots of the Swedish airforce. Picture taken today while preparing the Audi A5 for the daily dogfight-reality in going to work.

Good topic. Here's a pair from the Aeronautica Militare Italiana. Both conform to the larger CP-2 spec for pilot sristawatches (as oposed to the CP-1 supplied by Breitling and Leonidas - perhaps others but that's what I remember off the top of my head)

First up is my beloved Zenith Cairelli. Cairelli was a jeweler in Rome that had extensive contracts with the AMI, supplying a variety of wristwatches and dashboard clocks and timers. The first Cairelli for the CP-2 spec was a Universal Geneve. At some point, probably related to the fact that Zenith acquired UG's chronograph manufacturer, the contract passed to Zenith. This was the product.

UG's cal 285 aka Zenith's cal 146 inside - oddly, not a flyback

Second is the Leonidas CP-2. Looks kinda familiar? Because these became the well-known Bundeswehr Heuers once Heuer acuired Leonidas. This example is one of a batch found NOS with box a few years ago. It appears they were stored face down which made the lubricant stain the dials. Each one has its own individual pattern, like a fingerprint. True? Who knows. Si non e vero e ben trovato.

No Breguet, but I seem to to recall that Breguet and Lemania have something in common nowadays...

The taxonomy of those always flummoxes me. Is that a South African or something different?

Oh Lou you silly boy, it is from Switzerland!

😜

Yes, it is a South African Air Force model. The only other one like it (that I know of) has the arrow on front and was probably for Australia. Nice article here: http://forum.atgvintagewatches.com/showthread.php?t=5121
I love how it has a real no nonsense pilot's look about it. Like the Speedmaster they don't design it for anything but to be perfect in its intended role.

Wouldn't the Aussie version look like this, being Down Under and all 😀

And, I'm an Aussie, I can make those jokes!

Amazing! 🙄

I know some people who would foam at the mouth seeing three Lemania Viggen(s) together! I am not one of them, but I would like to have one for myself one day. They are wonderful watches to wear!

I am acutely aware of this gap in the collection, but it is likely to go unfilled. These have skyrocketed out of my reach too - 45mm of ratrappante splendor. A true grail.
