Was offered this Carmex CLP~M (Classic Lip Balm ~ Medicated) at my Authorized Drugist after it was in for service from another client who left it and hasn't been seen since.

    Backstory:
Was thoroughly serviced by my longtime balmist William Walgreens and he claims it's 100% legit but he's also getting on in years so I would gladly welcome input from those in the know here at OF about serials, movement, expiration dates, casing and overall quality.

    My personal assessment:
Appears to be one of their EAL series (External Analgesic Lip Protectant) with a screwdown lid.

Have to admit I'm pretty chapped about this one as Mr. Walgreens is offering it at a nice price, I've done quite a bit of prior business with him so that certainly helps, and as seen in the photos it appears to be pristine.
Before I get hammered with questions... No, it does not come with box or receipt. Yes I am disappointed but as we all know -- collectors often have to take the good with the bad.

I believe this to be an untouched dial with consistent fonts and colors. The edges are presenting the beginnings of a slight patina.

Lid fitment is definitely off but from my research this was quite common after Carmex went from glass cases to white hesalite...

Again, more misalignment which I believe puts this example in the post-70's series. Of note, the small blemish beneath the S in "Laboratories"... this one worries me - any chance this has been altered?

In the following photo you can see what I would strongly suggest is a nearly, if not completely, perfect lid.
If I not mistaken, in the event the CLP~M is less than desirable I could always recoup my investment just by reselling this lid either here or on Chrono24... thoughts?

This is where my heart rate increased dramatically... look at that!
Correct color, viscosity is perfect, well lubricated and obviously lovingly - dare I say sparingly - used.

Okay... another worrisome area where I would welcome input.
We've got a six digit serial. Obviously an E series - but - the two zeros, as seen, bother me deeply.
Wear & tear or are we looking at an aftermarket jar here?
Please let it be wear and tear, please??
Also, the date strongly puts this in the Vintage category and as such I feel a sound investment for not only my collection but my family's financial well-being once my time has passed.

    Last photo...
factory stamping looks good & robust and suggests the correct net weight as well as recyclability.

Thank you in advance for looking... as always, cheers OF.

That's the one I previously sold to that flake Walgreen. Guess what part of my anatomy left that nice round imprint in the goop?

It’s the reissue and not the original. It should look like this

This Walgreen dude it trying to take you for a ride. Clearly he got fleeced by Fred and is trying to make his money back.

I understand Fred got 2 cherry Chapstick, 2 boxes of Tucks medicated wipes and a lightly used Fleet enema for that Carmex!

Nice! You have the early 89¢ variant. I've got the $1.19 version but it's NOS

We all know that this is the bee’s knees:

Go back to that crook Walgreen or his cousin Duane Reade and demand the real thing.

It passes the RID test, so the lid is legit. However, the inside looks tired to me. Probably from too much fingering. I would pass.

This place is the boulevard of broken dreams.

Can't anything be legit any longer?

Okay fine, at least tell me - for the love of all that's good in universe - that I didn't get taken on this Snoopy purchase??

18k but no Wait List, and it included shipping from Beijing:

I’ll trade you Fred’s lightly used Fleet enema for it- although it has been used more since he got it, but a helluva deal!

Thats the old digitally applied version. I prefer the new tubular style.
