Okay, okay I know it's a modern product and not a vintage watch.
This hadn't even been on my radar until I browsed through a review video along the lines of "three under-rated watches" just about a week ago. Right when I was looking for a black diver. Ker-ching! Over to EBAY and BIN at a happy price.
I've owned compressor style cases before and for me the proportions have got to be right. Happily this case works on my 7.5" wrist, all case surfaces being mirror-polished with long yet slender lugs and a box crystal to give a period feel.
The boxed watch comes with the obligatory GIANT box which contains the user manual and a very nice hardback coffee table book. The whole package weighed in at over 7 pounds!
The oe leather and fibre strap was to my eyes a bit thin and, though correct on width, looked lost between the lugs. Raiding the strap drawer found a number of options and I'm happy with this artisan-made bridle leather strap whose lug stitching matches the markings on the dial very well.
On the wrist it doesn't feel like a 300m dive watch and of course the box crystal isn't protected by an external bezel so I expect this watch is going to lead a fairly gentle life, no chainsawing or heavy garden chores. I can't wait to try it under the cuff of a jacket.

Cool watch! No worries, all vintage watches started as new/modern to their era. :)

I had one and loved it but the lugs are very long so it didn’t work on my 7.25” wrist. Be aware there are 2 dial varieties out there, one with more text. You got the better, simpler one. The box truly is a monster.

    The one with more text:

Yes, I see. I'm happy with the date complication being there but I did find yesterday in almost all bright light conditions that the lower right corner of the date window cast such a reflection that I thought there was a loose spec of paint lodged there; happily not.

Impressive, almost all my watches are vintage, and I didn't expect this quality.

The watch is huge for my standards, but it wears very comfortable. I have worn it with a long sleeved shirt and it was unobstrusive. Although it is bigger than both, it wears more like a SM 120 027 than like a SM 300 024.

It is sure a keeper, like the SM 120.

Really nice, one of my favorite modern Longines designs (especially the no-date variant). I tried it on a couple of years ago and the lug-to-lug overhang just didn't work on my wrist. I really wish they hadn't used such long lugs!

The profile of the watch, especially when looking at it "along the wrist" is intriguing. Compared to most of my other watches the lugs are very slender and my first thoughts were "these look look like a cheap watch" but within 36 hours I have quite warmed to them. The underside of the case is cut back fairly deeply.and it all looks very slim.
I keep looking at this watch, straight on, at all kinds of "on the wrist" angles. Having filled the lugs with a thicker strap I really find it hard to slip off. I've picked out a watch to wear tomorrow and you know, I shall be very happy wearing this one.

I really like the LLD. I got the no date version several years ago, and currently use it with a Hirsch Rivetta strap and Longines deployment clasp. image.jpeg image.jpeg

That works! I see you've chosen a strap which is thicker between the lugs too.

I really like it - the only thing that stopped me picking one up is the strap which I didn’t particularly like but seeing it on leather it’s back in the melting pot.....
