Lecoultre Memo-date Question

I looked at a Memo-Date with caliber K911 hand wind movement over the weekend, nice watch all steel.

Having never checked one of these out in person I was curious if the alarm hammer is supposed to rattle when the watch is shaken side to side, is this normal? At least that's what I assumed it was, no noise up and down, just side to side.

Yes and no - it depends on the position of the hour hand. If it's close to the time the alarm indicator is set for, then it will clank off the post as you move the watch. You'll notice that if you pull the alarm crown out it will stop rattling against the post.

I have the memovox and after getting it back from the watchmaker from service, I thought there was something loose inside. As Ulackfocus states, pull the alarm crown and there will be no ratting.
