Hello OF, I need some advice if someone know about this Lecoultre Futurematic before i pull the trigger, this is a gold capped case, the dial looks original to me and in a good state, some lume is missing but nothing too bad, I have just a doubt about hands because i saw a lot of full dauphine hands, is it a legit combo ? The seller is a pro and ask for 2.5 k euros.
Any advice is welcome, thank you for help.
Ps : i am waiting for inside shots

Lume on dial and hands. Consistency with indices. Looks fine to me.

I think dial looks ok, but case looks a bit polished.

Yeah, I noticed that also. It’s illogical, but I think that the black Futurematic dials with radium did not have radium hands.

That being said, I wouldn’t worry too much about it if the rest of the watch functions properly.

I would make sure that the sliding hack level is present and operational, as many examples have this part missing or broken.

Another frequent malfunction involves the “wind down” feature. You want to make sure that if the watch has wound down due to inactivity, that it will start up immediately upon picking it up. If this does not work, it is a clear sign that the movement needs service. That will be a rather expensive proposition.

    Hope this helps,

Thank you for help, very appreciated
I will check with him if everything works fine, these lugs are so nice, it's a very special case, quite unique in its kind.

Be sure to have a watchmaker who knows how to handle these before buying. Also, asking price seems a little high.

    Gorgeous dial.

Edit: Price seems crazy for a plated case.

I didn’t see the asking price in the original post.

€2,500 is way too high for this watch. LeCoultre black dials are more plentiful that those of most other 1950’s Swiss brands and tend to hold condition better also.

Here’s what looks to be the same watch for a lot less:

I still would want to at least see the movement and also have some assurance that all of the special features of the watch work properly.

Sorry to ask but what is the function of the sliding hack level ? (sorry for asking i am French and not familiar of technical english term). After research does this look like this ?

I received my Futurematic looks like the Power Reserve indicator has a problem, I will put the watch to my watchmaker to service it, it has +30 sec per day this is not too bad for a watch of this age. Thanks for all the help :)

The Power Reserve indicator should not go to zero on the Futurematic. It is designed to keep a 5 to 6 hour reserve when it stops. The watch should start again when you pick it up. If your picture shows the position of the reserve when the watch stops, it is correct. Please see ad below:

Remember that the only way to wind this watch is to wear it. There is no manual wind feature.

I own threw Futurematics, power reserve goes to zero and does not stop with 6 hour left on reserve power as designed.

    Then they were improperly repaired.

You need to make sure your watchmaker has a copy of this document:

    Hello,
Just to be clear for people looking for this info, the manual provided above states and I quote: 'when the indicator has passed through the red zone, the stopwork automatically stops the watch.'
So it IS designed to run down to zero, where it is stopped with several hours of running time still left in the mainspring.

Just thought it would be good to conclude with the correct info.
