I couldn't find a thread on this topic so I'm starting this one. I started making them as a hobby September of last year, it's been slow making progress but it keeps me out of trouble.

Finished this pair of Cordovan Calf straps with this very smooth finish leather. I made the edge creasing 2mm, should have gone with 1.5, even 1 maybe. It's also thick because I used Salpa as well as Velodon reinforcement.

The leather wrinkles even though I used Barge contact cement; it must not have bonded completely with the Velodon layer. I probably should have used a thicker thread than 0.45mm but I don't have brown on a thicker thread. A few of the saddle stitches were done incorrectly too.

Nice work Jim. Do you apply the top and liner on a curved form, like a coffee mug? That might help with the delaminating, as it won’t be fighting with itself to keep its shape,

The big conversation is happening over here https://omegaforums.net/threads/adventures-in-strap-making.105415/
Oh, thanks for that link, I searched on leather straps as a title, that’s why didn’t see it. And started by my buddy Steve too.

I haven’t been using a curved form. I always wondered why some straps are made using them but when I looked to buy a set they were so expensive, I like the cup idea though.
