I want to learn more about the 1960s era seamster, like the one depicted in this image. How common were they? Is there anything I should be on lookout for when purchasing one? What's a 'fair' price? Thank you.
I'm not an expert but I think the seamaster 600 only came in five different dial versions, the above was not one of them. You should look for one with a nice case, hands and dial. Prices at the moment, maybe from 400 USD in steel and twice as much for a collector's piece. Just my two cents.
What book is that picture from? If you're looking to buy a watch like that, you're gonna be in for a disappointment if you're searching eBay for it.
Seamaster 600: Not a Seamaster 600: They are great little watches, by the way. I recently got mine, but it'll probably end up on the block soon, due to financial issues. A shame, because those numerals are really great!
Seamaster 600 are the kings of the lower Omegas Sadly, even though some of them were issued for the Afghan Air Force... ... neither the so called Military dial ones... ...nor those Mumbay specials with bright colours... ...are really original SM600
