Hey all,

I've just sparked an interest in hand watches and recently, my fiance's grandpa handed over his daily piece that he's been wearing for decades and I am hoping to learn more about this watch. From a few google searches, I believe it may be from the late 1960's, possibly a reference 166.032?

Dial - Omega Seamaster Automatic, Gold sparkle? (not really sunburst)
Case Back - "14 KGF BEZEL / STAINLESS STEEL BACK" with "SEAMASTER" and a seahorse logo
Band - The portion of the band that attached to the lugs appear to be "crimped" onto the cross bar.
Clasp - Does not have Omega logo.
Crown - Omega logo appears to have sheared/chipped off over the years and has left a slight recessed Omega-shaped area.

The bezel and crystal are pretty scratched/dirty so I was intending on cleaning it up a bit - any suggestions?
Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated!

The similar BC 168.0023 (chronometer, riveted bracelet, white gold!) would be the jack-pot 馃榾

I like the style of your watch: be happy!

Real

personally, i鈥檇 remove the bracelet, or atleast get a watchmaker to put the bracelet on properly ( the end links arent being used correctly) and put it on a nice leather strap

you could polish the crystal using toothpaste ( do a search, you will find plenty of videos on this), but do not polish the bezel or case

Can't comment about the fianc茅e, but keep grandpa... great watch imho, 752 movement, 37mm size wears really well. I'd pony up for a nice strap. They go by "sparkle dial" I believe. My steel cousin says hi:

Very nice gift and completely genuine (well, except for the generic bracelet).

If it was mine, I'd ditch the generic bracelet and use a smart leather strap, after having a watchmaker complete a service of course.

Oh, and a BZ for doing some research of your own 馃憤.

Beautiful! Looks like the style nowadays is trending toward a leather strap!
