·Are you looking for a terrific entry point into the world of vintage Universal Geneve, or to add to your existing UG collection? Then look no further! I am offering for sale this lovely Universal Geneve steel "time only" with raised yellow gold hands and numerals. Selling for no reason other than to make room for several new additions to my collection.
Full details are below. Please note that all photos are recent and were taken by me, except for the photo of the movement/inside case back, which was taken by the previous owner (I have not opened the watch since then).
Ref 20950-1, clearly visible along with serial number on the case back
Serial number 1538367, circa 1951/52
Manual wind Caliber 330 (appears to include a dust cover as an added bonus)!
34mm or so, without crown (see photo)
Dial appears to me to be original, un-refinished, and in excellent overall condition with sharp "Universal Geneve" signature
Yellow gold dauphine hands and YG raised numerals
Signed "U" crown
Sharp case and lugs - perhaps lightly polished in the past (but unsure, and certainly never by me)
A few very light scratches on the crystal, nothing that couldn’t be buffed out with care
Watch seems to keep good time, though I have not "timed" it and, as always, buyer should consider a check-up/service at his/her expense when purchasing any vintage piece. Interestingly, watch sets smoothly with crown "held" in the out position - I assume (but am not certain) this is normal but haven't encountered that. Regardless, no issues setting or winding watch.
Watch comes on a very, very lightly (like new) 19x16 light grey suede strap with contrast stitching and generic steel buckle (please note: NOT the blue strap that appears in a couple of the photos).
Asking US $625 net to me via bank wire, or PayPal F/F for established forum members (+4% if "regular" PayPal). Watch is located in Pennsylvania, USA, and I will gladly do a face-to-face in Philadelphia, or include USPS trackable shipping in CONUS (will need to discuss shipping terms with international buyers, depending on location). Please feel free to ask any questions, as I will not accept a return unless something has been grossly misrepresented. Watch is sold as-is, and photos are an essential part of my description, which I believe to be accurate in all material ways. Happy to provide references from other OF members on request.
Thanks for looking.
