FPJ CB is selling above retail. Not sure if there is any ALS selling above retail. That said, i believe in the power of “AND” not the tyranny of “OR”.
Completely astonishing what this has done price wise. Crazy. Owned one for a time bought and sold it mid 20s. I loved the dial but thought the hands seemed cheap
My bad. The odysseus escaped my mind. Is it in stores already? Maybe it doesnt appeal to that’s why i didnt think of it. When somebody says Lange, what i think of is the Lange 1, the Zeitwerk and the Datograph (the three pieces i want in my stash).
Of a CB or an Odysseus? I think both have same SRP, more or less. One made of tantalum, the other in steel.
Yes, a beautiful watch, but has also become overhyped. I wished I would have pulled the trigger sooner on this one, and although I am still on the Journe waiting list, the chances of me getting one are probably slim to none.
I haven’t seen one for sale yet. Lange told me they only offer them to prior customers. While I do own and appreciate the 1815 chronograph, I did not buy it through a boutique because it is available at large discount second hand.
I bought my ALS through a boutique. At a significant discount. Havent been offered the Odysseus yet. But your experience in secondary marker is i guess the point of poster above. Am curious though about performance of non-CB Journes in the secondary market.
Why would a manufacturer discontinue a model in demand? I would suppose there ought to be a replacement model.

Lange is more formal, the FPJ is more versatile, and either would be a worthy addition to any collection.
I agree. Both are beautiful for different reasons. Just my personal opinion, but I do think that the Lange designs, being more traditional, may hold up better to the test of time than many of Journes designs. But obviously no one can predict.
For me, if I was spending this kind of money on a watch I would try to be a patron of independent watchmakers, to support the art. I would look at Voulitanen for purely aesthetic reasons, or Roger Smith to support the British watchmaking industry. To stay on topic though I would definitely go for a Journe over a Lange. To me the design language of Journe is so much more compelling, it’s hyper modern but at the same time classic and Art Deco; they have created their own language. Lange on the other hand seems contrived as it leans into very Bauhaus style utilitarianism. Of course Lange were probably the pioneers for these kind of designs, but that was so long ago and the style is so ubiquitous now for me they feel cliche. I guess it’s just a new version of the ‘Seinfeld isn’t funny’ trope: ‘Lange designs are boring’.
