Very good tool to have, over the years I have seen so many of those pivots bent, and the wheels damaged. I will not even talk about the jewels.

Not to mention gouging the crap out of the bridge...

I did a restoration on a 48 last year. It was a real mess when I got it. I polished all the screw heads, removed all the eccentric screws also (using a Horia tool) , polished and refiled all the screw head slots. Had to reapply the graining on the steel parts. It took hours. But when done, wow , these old chrono’s look good.

There was a thread on the Bergeon Presto pullers. I finally got one out of the UK. Some of the US suppliers were listing a backorder of over a year.

A lot of the take down instructions has this wheel removed first. I have found removing the minute jumper to be one of the first things removed. Minute jumpers are as delicate as tissue paper.

Presto tool arrived this morning.

Amazing how easy a task is when you have the right tool.

Chrono Driving Wheel is off and no damaged jewel, no bent shaft and no damage to the bridge (not that I did anyway). I will have to tidy up that eccentric screw.

With the driving wheel off I could remove the train bridge. Can anyone spot the issue?
@sheepdoll 😉.

Well, I'm used to finding dried out oil and gunk in jewels when pegging them out, but this is the first time I've seen a bug in the jewel sink.
😲
It looks like some kind of tiny spider, the abdomen fell off when I was trying to lift it out and put it on a slide.

I mentioned this above. The balance bridge screw is the longest plate screw. I see these mixed up all the time.

There is a lot of documentation on these Landeron movements. They are easy to work on. Good starter chronos.

I think I am back to around a dozen or so plates and things. Would that cases and case parts come without the other bits and pieces. I have not had much luck finding empty cases.

I personally have found that it is best to test fit and ajust the chrono levers back on before assembling the train. (Book says remove balance) I also found @Archer suggestion of pressing the eccentrics out is the best way. Turning them can a cause issue. They are not threaded.

I still have to get back to these, I kinda lost my confidence after that last round of total failures.

Dang! 😡🤬

I was so focussed on applying epitome to the pallet stones I completely forgot to do the escape wheel!
Didn't realise until I was watching the movement ticking away to wear the epilame from the pallet stones.
Had to let down the mainspring to prevent the escape/pallet from self destroying and I'll pull it apart tomorrow and do the pallet.

Having a beer now to calm the "inner blame devil" saying "you dumb bugger!" over and over again.

Anyway, here's a pic of when I DID remember to do the right thing.
