After nearly a year of research and picking up many tid-bits and useful facts about the many facets that make up these early Speeds, I had been itching to find myself one. This on I initially missed out on, but as luck would have it... It turned up again, and the seller kindly let me "...see if I like it..."
Before I laid down my cards....I gathered information from well known enthusiasts and chuckmaddox serials etc..and various other sources, it all seemed to tally up..I decided to take the plunge. Knowing that this was only made as a transitional model for 6 months after the 2998-62 and hence has the stick hands rather than Alpha was even more incentive.

The case, whilst slightly polished has some shape evident and the bezel is near as clean as I've seen. It has a nice detailed seahorse logo too.. The dial has an evenly aged lume to my eyes. I had Stefan give it his seal of approval too before I got carried away...

Thanks to all the enablers out there! :)

I like to wear on a NATO... But I've heard there are thinner straps out there..

A fantastic looking watch and one that I'd love to add to my collection one day

Serial number is a bit out though for a 62

I admire your patience and commitment to research before you leapt and I think you have been well rewarded. What a fantastic honest-looking watch and in great shape too. Hope you get many happy years of wearing pleasure from it.

Congrats, you've snagged a nice one.

I understand why you didn't list all the enablers individually.... you'd still be typing. ::bleh::

    You mean the 002 club?
otherwise those upstarts with 2998-62 might get ideas.

    (yours pedantically)

Very nice, I'd almost call that mint.

Does the 105.002 have tritium dials and what about the 2998's and 2915's?

Any anxiety the values would multiply over that period?
Congrats on what most cognoscenti would call a scarce reference. I think anytime there was a split in variations of similar references, those examples will rise to the top. Think 2998-62 and 105-62's, -66 cases by Huguenin Freres and Centrale Boîtes...the list probably goes on but I haven't yet indulged in da book...!

Man, I love a metal band, but the watch is smokin' on the leather band! I don't know how you'll get any work done with that thing on.... :taunt:

Not a Speedy die hard fanatic, but that one gives me feelings otherwise reserved for the good Mrs A.

What was the serial btw, its the same config as mine which is a 20.520M, from memory it was sticks from around the 20.520M point through to 20.525M (only a spread of 5,000 numbers) but I really need to buy the book to read up on the exact details...
