Hi Omega Forums!

Purchased this watch at auction last week and received it today. I've been scouring the boards and other sites for information, and am hoping someone has some nuggets about this particular reference, movement, and watch. Already have a local professional set up to service the watch, will be taking it to them this week.

Really appreciate the helpful and informative nature of this forum. I love finding new communities and diving into new topics. The wealth of knowledge here really is incredible.

Cheers from me. Here's a scotch a watch for your Sunday evening.

Your L6288 is an American market watch dating to ca 1960. Note the marking OXG on the movement indicating it was imported to the US. It was cased locally by Jonell, one of the companies the US distributor for Omega, Norman Morris used.

Do not allow the watch case to be polished, ultrasonic cleaning and nothing more.

Thank you for that nugget. One additional photo, trying to get lighting right.

Dial looks fine, nice alpha hands.

Thanks X350! Based on the fact that it was most likely cased in the States... could the crown be original as well? It lacks an Omega logo so I assumed it was replaced through service at some point along the way.

Not, most likely cased in the States, it was cased in the US. Jonell was located in New York.

It probably had a signed crown, a typical clover shaped one, although with any American cased Omega anything is possible.
