Keep the SMP or PO as Daily Wear?

I posted this in another forum and am curious on everyone’s opinion. I know this is subjective and has been covered ad nauseam but just curious on others opinion. I have the current gen PO and SMP and would like to narrow it down to one for daily wear. I know if there was a PO with SMP proportions this wouldn’t be a conversation; I love the looks of the PO but it just seems big.

I feel like I’ve looked at the two to the point where I’ve lost the forest for the trees and am curious on others opinions if the PO is too big or if it fits. I have just under 7” wrists but they’re relatively flat and my build is slightly bigger. Curious on others thoughts, if I were to pick one as a daily wear which one should it be? (And I know whichever I pick, I’ll want the other soon enough lol)

I had a titanium PO as a daily wear/vacation watch.
PO gets my vote.

Erm... thanks for editing your title slightly - I first opened the thread expecting a very different choice! 😉

Both are beautiful. I don’t think the PO looks big on you at all.
The way you wrote your post you seem to prefer the PO, I’m assuming you don’t find it wears as comfortable and that’s what’s nagging you
If it’s not comfortable you won’t enjoy it as a daily driver and it seems you’re not settled with the idea of just having it in the collection to be worn on occasion.

If it’s only a matter of self consciousness that you’re wearing a grandfather clock on your wrist, again I think it looks great on you in the pics you shared.

Can’t go wrong either way those are fantastic timepieces !

There’s no wrong answer. Both watches “fit” your wrist and both are great daily wear watches, IMO. The SMP is slightly- very slightly - more versatile and more likely to slip under a cuff.

PO.
SMP is too bling in my opinion for daily use.

I think the PO and its nearly perfect dial, is one of the best all around, everyday watches available. It looks great with bracelet on your wrist too.

SMP is iconic, has a more versatile fit, and better looking dial. The PO looks like a vanilla diver to me.

What is the bracelet you are using on the SMP? Any issues with the end links and spring bars lining up with the case/lugs?

I have SMP two tone Sedna black dial on rubber strap and want to get the bracelet but want a tapered bracelet not the standard SMP straight bracelet.

I have the Seamaster Tokyo 42mm and Planet Ocean 43.5mm titanium grey dial. I like the PO titanium because it wears light, and fits just like the 42mm. The size listing can be deceiving, but that is only because it measures at certain angles that I honestly cannot see. My wrist is flat and a size 6.5, I won’t wear a watch where the lugs overhang, or I cannot see the end links on both ends from the top. The height is a non-issue for me, and sinks into my wrist. It is all about the fit, which is the adjustable clasp. Wear the watch that you feel like wearing that day.

Another vote for the PO. To me it looks smaller on your wrist than the SMP, although I’m well aware it isn’t

I've got small wrists and still love wearing my PO. Rock whichever you enjoy looking down and seeing most.

Either one is fine - pick the one you like more. Otherwise, keep them both. My choice would be SMP but I won't be the one wearing it.

Looks like he’s using an Uncle Seiko 1450. I bought it for my SMP Diver as well, but it doesn’t suit the watch one bit. It’s collecting dust now.

It’s too thin and rattle-ly. The taper is too drastic 20-16cm, as opposed to 20-18cm. But that’s not a fault of it’s design. It’s meant to mimic the Omega 1450 “Holy Grail” bracelet for the Speedy’s.

In short, don’t buy if for an SMP.

Everyday wear?

300M gets my vote. The PO is just a little too thick IMO, although it’s a beautiful piece.

Not that you asked, but the current gen AT might be the best “one watch collection” piece that can be bought today (any brand).
