Hi Greg, really sorry to hear your news - and I really hope you have a good recovery.
Thanks. I’m actually doing quite well. It could have been much worse.

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with these health challenges, Greg. I hope they do indeed become a blessing in disguise.

Hopefully you get the time you need to rest after your procedure and recover well.

8 weeks is a long haul in the hospital and rehab. Glad to hear you are on the upswing. I wish you the best in your continued recovery. What have you got on your wrist these days?

It varies. Lately, I have been wearing my blue Skyfall AT. Beautiful watch.

Best of luck with your surgery Greg.

You are certainly one of the most compassionate and considerate OF members.

Examples:

You led the Go Fund initiative that raised over $10000 for Alex. That was all you.

You traveled to Detroit to make our 2023 GTG a success… and bought 2 or 3 pieces of expensive cake for a starving OF celebrity.

You regularly checked up on the status and well being on my mother in law, and sent me some very cool and useful Omega coffee mugs that are part of my daily routine.

Your recovery is already evident and I predict a 2026 Baltimore GTG.

Your Canadian friend.
Steve,

Thanks so much for your very kind post. Given the chocolate cake photo, I had to find and include this classic photo at the G2G . . . good times!!!

Two shady looking attendees in a nearby parking garage standing in front of a cake loving OF member’s vintage Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Would you buy a used watch from these guys!?!

Oh crikey, Greg - I had no idea what you went through.

As you say, events like yours can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Glad to hear that you're on the mend and that your heart condition will be addressed.

Caroline and I don’t get to the Baltimore area as often as we used to, but we'll have to see if we can plan for 2026. Mad Dog's next cake overload is on me!

Thinking of you - take care!

Frank

I am another who had no idea. I am guessing you initially wanted it that way. I am grateful that you are doing so well. Best wishes for continued improvred health.

Yes, that’s correct. I and others were finishing up our details and arranging for our 4th Annual Mid-Atlantic G2G in Baltimore on 12/7 when I had the stroke on 10/31. Several of our members took over for me and they did an absolutely amazing job. I was in the hospital and then rehab for about 8 weeks. Some of my friends knew early what had happened, but I really wasn’t in any condition to deal with anything for a few months.

I peeked back at your always excellent photographs of your always excellent watches to find a gap for the entire month of November. You posted a watch photo October 31st and the next one December 1st. You just slipped off the radar. There is more to members than digital photos of watches. It's one thing to make the choice to temper Forum participation and quite another to be waylaid by life into silence.

I have noticed the recent absence of our own Walrus.

Yes. I’ve been in touch with Alex (“Aroxx”). We have both experienced a stroke.

Greg,
I’m another one of the apparent many of us that just read about your stroke, your recovery journey and the upcoming surgery. My attendance here at OF tends to wax and wane like the phases of the moon, but your posts always have a warmth that shines through. Glad you’re back at it here at OF.

Wishing you well for the upcoming surgery - and for the upcoming GTG’s

Doug

Hey Greg, thanks for sharing these thoughts. I was wondering how you were doing with your recovery, and I should have reached out to you sooner. I'm sad to hear that we won't be able to have a 2025 G2G, but I hope your surgery goes well and we can all get together again soon.

I've enjoyed this forum quite a lot, but the G2Gs have been the biggest highlight for me - you and the rest of the crew did an amazing job gathering us all to nerd out together, share stories, and discover watches that we didn't know we needed in our collections (I ended up splurging on an Airman because of everyone's bad influence on me at the last meetup 😀)

Thanks so much for all you've done for us. Wishing you the best as you continue to recover. And you too, @Aroxx
