Have you seen worse examples actually
go for similar prices or
offered for similar prices on eBay? If it’s the former a link would interesting really.
We’ve discussed two rather outstanding examples of a 2887 that was sold for charity and a very uncommon railtrack one on a flatlink recently, as they both went for pretty hefty amounts. My impression is that, while prices might have slowly and steadily increased for quite a while and especially good examples with structured or black dials achieve significantly more than they used to, regular gold-capped or SS ones still sell for less than half of what the OE is asking (Yes, he services them etc, but it’s far, far off “market value”).
I’m not saying those examples are easy to find though.
