I just inherited this watch. I own a newer Seamaster. Need help with this one. First is it genuine?

Hard to tell without better photos including the movement and inside of the case back, but it looks legit to me. I would guess maybe an early 60's Seamaster reference, some of which did not have the Seamaster text on the dial. Interesting bracelet, which looks like a stretch model of some type, and which I assume is not original to the watch. If the watch is legit, the dial has aged beautifully.

Thanks for the info! Would it be beneficial to send it in or leave it original? It was my dads.

If you're going to have it serviced (and you should if you don't know the service history), I would have it serviced by an independent watchmaker who has experience with vintage watches and has an Omega parts account. If you tell us where you're located, you'll probably get some recommendations. I'd also switch out that bracelet (which is probably damaging the lugs) for a nice leather strap.

I am in Dallas. I would love to get it serviced. I doubt my dad ever did. This is an automatic watch correct?

Does it start running when you shake it gently back and forth? When you wind the crown, does it eventually come to a point of resistance where it stops, or does it just wind continuously?

It will run when I shake it. I own a late 90s Seamaster automatic. It seems to be an automatic that is very gummed up. It has been sitting for years.

It does not appear to be an automatic based on the dial. You can determine that by turning the crown to wind manually. If it is automatic, you can turn the crown indefinitely. If it is hand-winding, the crown will stop turning eventually.

I gave him the same advice, Dan. I do think that it looks like a legitimate "no dial text" Seamaster. Do you agree?
