I found the shape unique and I don't have this type of watch in my collection. I picked it up at a great price. Any Longines enthusiast out there?

This is exactly the sort of watch I started out my collection with as a youth, square and cushion, mostly GF pieces, from the 20's and 30's. I especially love the watchmakers marks inside!

I'm worried. I just saw the Longines thread with all the fakes and redials out there.

I'm not a Longines pro but that piece has lots of genuine age, worn through the GF on the caseback corners, aged dial and hands (tho if a redial seems to be an old one), generally with these dial types the applied numerals aren't removed but rather painted over then scraped back to metal, so the sides of the numerals would show paint if it was a redial. I can't tell from your pics but you should be able to see in hand.
I think the fact that there is a serial number and the quote from Longines archives describing it helps greatly, but do you have the paperwork from the seller that mentions this, or even have him forward an email if it came that way?
This seems to show what that piece looked like when your seller bought it from Sweden; pre-cleaning and service: https://www.lotsearch.net/lot/watch...wristwatch-23-5-x-31-5-40-mm-cal-8ln-47240775

Does it include a Longines extract?

A close up of the dial would help with dial originality/authenticity
The Longines extract offers the least information of any of the manufacturers that have this service. Alternatively, and possibly depending on what you paid, you could get a certificate of authenticity for $175 where their watchmakers authenticate the watch.

Seller claims that it was done. The watch was purchased and currently in route to me. Great info. Thank you

Glad everything worked out; it looks like a very nice piece. Humphrey Bogart (my avatar, actually) often wore a tonneau case Longines in the 40s and 50s.

This is one of Bogart’s watches, courtesy of the Longines heritage department (awesome people there). It’s been on my wish list since day one. Classic look.

Firstly, to @Manny1979, this thread should really be in the Longines sub-forum, rather than the Unique Watches & Complications sub-forum. Secondly, the dial looks original and nothing else looks amiss. Most American-market, rectangular Longines from this period have a caliber 9L so this watch is sort of neat.

To @killer67, the information from the extract can be seen above. Additionally, I would argue that Longines' extracts offer comparable amounts of information to other brands and at a price of exactly zero dollars, the value that one receives blows anything else out of the water.

Your right about the thread in the wrong section. I quickly realized when I started searching on the forum. Thanks again for the help
