Just Picked Up This A277 - Now What?

Hi, all-- I took a bit of a flyer on some poor quality ebay pics and this arrived. It appears unpolished, with the scratched up crystal hiding a pretty nice looking dial. I'm pretty happy with it. What do you think? It looks correct to me except for a missing crown and a 2nd gen chrono hand, perhaps. It also is missing the lume pip on the bezel and the "hammer" from the movement, so the chrono is not working at the moment.

Any advice on where to source parts for these and/or where to go for a good cleaning and service on this puppy? I'm in NY but could send it away somewhere as well. Looking for someone familiar with these and who will do a sympathetic service without messing with any of its original parts, etc.

Thx! The sale pics were terrible and made the lume look almost black. A glimpse of color made me think (hope) that the dial would look much better in person and, thankfully, it panned out!

Well, @timoss ... suggest to polywatch the crystal, see how it looks. set it on your desk so you can drool as you walk by 😀

anyone have recommendations for a sympathetic service?

I would recommend @photo500, as well as @Archer who you can PM to discuss possibility of a service

Thanks, John! I will contact those two. Was hoping to keep it U.S.-based if possible but will "travel" if necessary...

Sure! Others may have suggestions of US watch repair contacts. Good luck. Great pickup too

Nice pick-up, congrats!

I have recently begun to search for an A27X chrono on ebay as well. With patience (and some luck) I hope to find one find one in such condition!

Case is untouched and unpolished, stuning
Bezel is in quite good conditions, very difficoult to find one like this
Glass is not a big problem
Crown unfortunally is uncorrect
The top would be to find a GF 20mm bracelet with correct end links

Wow that is an awesome example. Agree it is unpolished and the serial is still nice and crisp. Usually it is worn off. Great patina! I used to own one and love it. Currently have its cousin the Movado SSS which I just got back from service. Cheers,
Andrew - Also from NY!

I really like the SSS as well! So where did you get yours serviced? Was it in NY?
