@ELV web definitely has 1st dibs on the Zenith, might be quite a while though before I ever let that go. 😜

Just opened up the caseback - sad to report I was mistaken that the case is by Spillmann. Hammer head 143 corresponds to Classicor SA.

Thread title amended - Sorry for the faux pas 🙁

Well neither of mine is a Spillman either, so perhaps not even "Spillman-esque" is right

Yes, the Swiss makers' marks only go on gold cases. Later steel cases from Spillman often have a case reference with an SP as a prefix, like these casebacks from early Zenith Primeros

Whow LouS! That is a wonderfull Zenith case. Do you own it and if so.. is it for sale? I've a stranded 3019 in desperate need for a new home... 😀

it is mine, and it has already been used. It's grown up into a completely correct A386.

Thank god for that! A complete a386 is always a great achievement, specially if you build it from parts! I've a G381 (the gold version of the A386) complete "interior" that someone butchered to scrap the case for gold. Makes me wonder how ignorant can someone be... and there's no limit as I came to realize lately.
I'm desperatly trying to give it a proper home but if a386 is rare, g381 seems impossible... maybe one day I get lucky and I'll open a bottle of champagne.
Cheers
Miguel

Thanks mate really appreciate it! It's the smaller 34-35mm case version, I'm not sure if the Compur Jeanneret version in UG comes in 37mm, I've only see the 37mm Jeanneret version in UG Compax as well as Zenith Compur & Compax.

aap aap
Congrats again man!

Thank you my friend, come and see this in person 😉

Not everyone can afford to keep all of their watches like you! :whipped:

Btw below is a thread by the late L. Noodia about this particular case maker,

Great thread. Noodia proves you not need to keep gold in the watch box! Wears with anything and without shame! (Although I'd never put a watch like his on a NATO strap.) ::facepalm1::
