Got a text last week from a AD I visited last July telling me they had an Explorer II Polar that I mentioned I was in the market for. I bought one a few months ago, now I have my sights on an Explorer I. We have one she said. Long story short; papas gotta a brand new bag.

Good work. Great watch. Pretty soon they might let you buy a GMT...

Still kicking myself for not buying the black GMT when I was there last year. I did make it very clear if they got a any GMT in they need to call me...I don't expect a call

They did try and sell me a Tudor Pepsi GMT though.

Congrats, I hope you enjoy it. When I got one, I was surprised to find that I actually preferred the 36mm version, so I traded the larger one to a friend, who absolutely loves it.

On a light note, this thread reminds me of the general discussion forum on RolexForums. Every third thread is about how someone finally got to the top of the waiting list and were allowed to buy a watch.

Nice Explorer. I mean if it's good enough for Roger Smith then it should be good enough for the vast majority of us. Which GMT were you after @Sublime_1 ? The Coke?

I'm not really after any. I was just being cheeky with the sales staff. I passed on the all black when the AD had it because I was set on the Explorer II. Only kicking myself because the discontinued it...but in all honesty watch flipping/speculation isn't my thing. The Batman is my favorite of the GMT line, by a long shot. Not on the jubilee though, I haven't seen it in person but so far kinda lack-luster in my opinion.

I'm done with Rolex, for now anyway, happy with the 2 I have but it would be cool to have a 1655 & 16550 /16570 to complete the collection, so to say. But i'd be stopped in my tracks at the 1655, if I'm going to spend that kind of cake I'm getting my AP grail.

After years of wearing 39mm+ watches (including a GMT I have had for almost 20 years), I am finding I prefer the smaller sizes of 34-36. They just seem better balanced on the wrist and once you get used to the smaller size (takes a week or so) anything larger feels like a hall clock.

And yeah- thank you Rolex for allowing me to give you my money....this is why I only buy used. Let someone else have the honor, I’ll take the savings.

Is the explorer I going to be your daily beater?
