Hi, It's me again. The clueless university student "collector".
Just a moment ago I found an omega on ebay for 150 $.
    It's a de ville - co axial (OM391)
I'm used to seeing good products on ebay go out real fast (especially on the lookout for omega watches)
But I noticed (after committing), that it had been about 4 hours since the upload.
It brought a question in mind... Why wouldn't anyone buy this piece in that time frame?
So I did a little research on the time piece the guy was selling....
and found the exact piece at "perfect watches) which is a fake replica selling site.
    I DON'T WANT A REPLICA.

For all you Omega- savvy experts .... How do I tell if it's fake? Is the one I'm committed to buy fake as well?
    I won't pay until I've found out it's real. I have a gut feeling that's telling me it's fake.
    Thank you!!

You paid 150USD for an Omega De-Ville. If something sounds too good to be true, it normally is. This is :)

This is so frustrating. HOW are we supposed to know which is real which is not if these fake pieces are just floating around. ....
Can't even retract my "commitment" on ebay. what do i do.

Raise a dispute or just send a message to eBay telling them it's fake.

I think we all learn from mistakes like these. Luckily, you haven't paid a penny so it's no big deal. Someone was trying to rip you off let's face it. Just cancel the transaction on eBay. The seller won't be bothered as I'm sure they'll expect things like this. There's no way they would list an Omega for 150USD and not know it's fake. No way.

The only Omegas for that sort of money are either very old models or that one in a million that wasn't too good to be true.

However, as suggested, research these things more. You could have spent 1000USD here thinking that everything seemed right only to receive a fake still. Knowledge is the only way you'll (hopefully) avoid issues.

Thank you for the awesome advice. I'm still a newbie with the watch collecting business.
My dream is to buy an authentic watch from an authentic dealer one day... not one of those 300~500 $ watches....
But those real ones that go from thousands to tens of thousands.
That one day will come soon and I can't wait.
Anyways. Thanks, I'll be trying my best to cancel this commitment

Go to the eBay customer service section. Do not pay. Do also report it as fake while at it.
It will be arranged for you.

Do you realistically think you will be able to find a modern men´s Omega for $150? If you do then you will probably also fall for more fakes as they just don´t exist. If you have a small budget like a few hundred dollars or so then you will have to think vintage. That world is also full of fakes and franken watches but with some help here ( before you hit the BIN button :D ) you will likely end up with something nice that you can be proud of

Then send a message to the seller telling him that you have learned that the watch is fake. eBay has rules about offering counterfeit merchandise on their site. In short, it's a violation of their rules. They've been sued many times by manufacturers and paid millions in settlements.

Offer for both sides to walk away and say nothing. That should get you off the hook.

If the seller balks, then open up a case with eBay customer service.

If you see the watch relisted, post it here and members will report it again to eBay.

On the other hand, there is no such thing as a new $150 Omega.
