My second Tri-Compax was just as lucky a find as the first, but this one took a lot more work. I think I spoke with the original owner consistently for over two months before he agreed to sell it to me. Additionally, the stem wouldn't wind and the watch had inhabited the inside of a drawer for the past 20 years, so while the movement looked to be in good shape from a visual standpoint, there was a real possibility that a part would need to be sourced / replaced. Well, just got it back from the spa a couple days ago and everything was fine! An enormous relief, obviously, and now I just need to figure out what to do with the second. The only avenues I'm considering are to: a) throw it in a safe for a couple years and see where the UG / Tri-Compax market settles, or b) trade one of them for a panda Tri-Compax or Nina/"Evil Nina" Compax so I can wear both watches continuously. Either way, love it when the countless hours of pouring through research and listings pays off in a big way. Here are a few pics of the brothers:
Thanks, all! Definitely didn't expect to have two identical Tri-Compax's, but hey, when a deal presents itself it would be bad business not to take it. I think you're right, LouS - I'll put out a WTT and then just wait until the right offer comes along. No need to move it quickly, especially given the strong momentum in the UG market right now. It's not even about using it to get something else...I just want a different color scheme!
I knew you had the one, but did a double take on instagram the other day! They both look awesome, I don't think you'll be able to make a bad decision, congrats!
Ha, thanks gophishin! I had to sit on the second one for a few weeks while it was getting serviced (and I was anxiously crossing my fingers and hoping that the service wouldn't require sourcing a new part).
The one on the left... is the bottom crown smaller, or is that an illusion? (edit: and by crown, I actually mean chrono pusher)
I can't say with 100% certainty if it's genuine or not, but the owner never mentioned anything about it being replaced in the past.
A grievous error! Absolute catastrophe! You had best get rid of it! Fortunately I'm happy to step right up!
