Got this watch about 12 years ago did work but not for long. It's a Hamilton RR Special Electric wristwatch with one of the first electric watches before quartz. With a 505 electric movement. It's been on the back burner for years. A few weeks ago, sent it to a watchmaker that specializes in these. The movement looks mechanical but with a battery no mainspring. Just got it back the other day. Most watchmaker won't touch them. Glad I found one who knew how to work on them.
Looks nice - I’ve almost come full circle in that at one stage I wore battery watches, then I discovered vintage manual wind, then vintage automatic and most recently vintage electronic (although my three are all Omega cal1250). I shall start looking into Hamiltons
Here is a YouTube video of a Hamilton RR Special same model as mine with a movement shot. c1965 Hamilton R R Special 50 Electric watch with Calibre 505A movement - YouTube
Looks great @river rat. Jarett is a good buddy and great service option for these. Pretty much the only reason I felt safe with the several electrics in my collection. Wear in good health.
