Rest in Peace...

The number of flights he had throughout the different space programs is truly something amazing.

Sad Day RIP Mr. Young
RIP indeed.

Wasn't John not also the only man to have flown 2 winged vehicles outside the earth's atmosphere? The X15 and the Shuttle?

Not sure if its true but I was told long ago that we were distantly related. There is a family resemblance. I had not given it much thought but having a well researched Family tree here that I've used to trace my bloodline to the mid 1600's I might just take the time and effort to find out for certain one way or the other.
One of my great grand nieces has an IQ higher than that of Stephen Hawking, in fact so high they are unable to truly measure it, and has won a number of awards and scholarships. I'm hoping she will enter the space program in the near future.

Very sad to see this, Young was my favourite of the Apollo era astronauts. I absolutely loved his dry wit in all of the interviews he gave, bloke was a legend.

Very sad news indeed 🙁
Naval aviator John Watts Young was one of the very best astronauts and was commander of 4 different spacecraft (Gemini, Apollo CSM & LM and the space shuttle)... R.I.P. John Young
