I suggest everyone please also remember all of the astronauts still alive who paved the way to moon exploration, including General Thomas Stafford, who I had the pleasure of meeting at an OB event in St. Louis. Perhaps I should not admit it but his bravery, fearlessness, strength, and sense of duty all wrapped in his humility brought tears to my eyes as I listened in awe to his stories. He was asked how he resisted taking the Apollo moon lander all the way down to the surface when his Apollo 10 mission was only to test the lander's ability to descend toward the surface and then back up to dock with the orbiting module overhead. He said in his amazing quiet way, I didn't, though it was tempting, because those were not my orders..
