So you're not offering any solutions to participants of this thread, only grievences?

Got it.
If we've been lied too long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the lie. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The lie has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

Amazing collection and i never realised the JB Champion fits so universally well on all these different watches, and your Elgin is super nice 😍
Same comment. So many beautiful condition and looking watches. This is a collection that was built with a keen eye over time.

What was your point again?

Oh yes, history is bring rewritten. So how can we appease the JB Champion gods with this blatent ripoff of their patents and designs. Do we need to sacrifice a chicken? Give back stolen land? Pay reparations to JB Champion? Maybe commit seppuku on the JB Champion altar?

What can we, as OF members, do about this whole travesty of justice?

nothing to appease this thread is sharing data verifiable, factual data ... and bringing into the light corporate mythmaking through historical appropriation by the modern Forstner brand ... using commercial branding to overwrite documented history

Very true, you see it still with Rolex myth of conquering Mount Everest, their website still has that picture with Tenzing and Hillary.

@Ron_W
We have had that discussion, Rolex advertising mentioned:
Worn TO the top of Everest, not ON the top !

Strictly speaking you're correct of course, but come on. If you phrase it like that ad, '7 Times on Everest; Finally - to the top!', you're laying it on so thick that any incorrect assumptions by the reader are your responsibility rather than theirs.

A very informative thread and many beautiful and interesting watches shown by the OP, but I'm a little offended that so many watches he has put on a JB Champion USA NASA bracelet (JB Champion USA NASA bracelet, the choice of champions! Going into space or just staying on earth? You'll want the best! You'll want the JB Champion USA NASA bracelet. That's JB Champion USA NASA bracelet. Not Forstner!) never orignally came on that bracelet or even went to space. Horological revisionism, stolen valor, call it what you will. It just breaks my heart.

And Rolex had to apologise to Smiths for it in the Horological Journal of October 1953.
But lets not derail this thread, the picture of the summit on the Rolex site is a perfect example of @hmmmcamu point, the suggestion has been planted in peoples mind over the last 50+ years or so and with many it stuck.

Hey, even fake astronauts who happens to be watch geeks deserves a little horological joy.

Worship JB Champion ??? Seems you totally do not understand the whole point of this thread, it's about the revived Forstner brand out here claiming direct credit for the NASA bracelet.

Man, I totally get the point of this thread, don’t worry.

My comment was a little tongue-in-cheek based on your previous: “And when you buckle up, go ahead and shout “Jacoby BenderUSA!” loud enough for the room to hear. A full-throated credit to the real engineers who didn’t just make a bracelet, but got it to the Moon”

I know you probably don’t have a sacrificial chamber to JB back home…

But if you ever do build that shrine in the basement, save me a front-row seat.
