More would have survived if Timex had been around in WWII! “Takes a Licking, Keeps on Ticking!”

This watch type was used by the Navy Type 0 carrier fighter pilots. The anchor stamp on the case back shows this was supplied to the navy. Apparently, it was mounted to the thigh rather than the wrist.

Commonly known as the "天測時計(Tenshoku Clock)" issued to Zero fighter pilots of the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Pacific War (World War II).

The engraving on the back cover is "空兵 第八二五三號". I think it means "Airman No. 8253.
On the back of the back cover, you can also see an anchor mark indicating the Navy.

Here is a link to a video about this watch in Japanese, and a link to this watch sold in the past.

The description of the photo "Rare Photo of Japan's longest serving Kamikaze
Pilot, the 6 mission veteran "Chicken" Teriyaki" is incorrect.
Kamikaze pilots do not return alive from sorties, so they cannot be active for long.
The person in this photo is Nobuo Fujita.

I think it's known in English as a 'joke'.
