    Hi there community,
I'm considering buying this Memovox... I have the feeling that it's a redial, and that the hands have been replaced... What do you think?
I would very much appreciate your opinion!
    cheers,
    Giovanni

    I dig it.

As for worth it.. depends on the price. I don’t think it’s a redial.. the hands might be more modern.

Presents well but I’ve got no knowledge of correctness.

The dial lume seems poorly placed, esp. 6 & 7.

Dial looks ok to me but what do I know...hands may be newer but look like correct type. Do we have any other pictures, it’s always easier to evaluate a watch using more than one picture! Anyway my JLC for comparison...

On second look this dial is suspect to me...look at the G in Jaeger, it seems taller than the E before and after it. And the Automatic script doesn’t seem as crisp as it should be. Also I don’t think on these watches the Swiss Made at the bottom should be visible but hidden underneath the bezel of the case. I’m not saying it’s a redial but I’d want more pictures or to examine it in person. Just my two cents!

Edit: The case looks over polished as well.

I would like it to be ok, since the black-dialed versions are much less common. However, I'm also not sure about the dial from that photo, but keep in mind that the inner and outer dials are separate parts, and are often mixed-and-matched in restorations. So the fact that they have apparently aged differently deserves a closer look. The lugs look a bit thin from that angle, but the lighting is very harsh. Do you have other photos from other angles or with different lighting?

I agree we need some more and also hi-res photos. Dan S is absolutely correct that the inner disc and outer dials are separate, and the fact is that there is almost no way to 100% tell if they are original unless there is provenance - which is why there always has to be a high level of suspicion, esp w the black dial and all other variant ones (world time, parking, etc).

Here are my black and white dials under a loupe (although the black is gilt) for comparison:

Dial looks ok, case is appears very polished. See if you can get more pics. What’s the asking price?

I know the black dial examples are hard to find, but I just don't have a good overall feeling about this piece, including the hands and over polished case ... and the mismatched condition of inner and outer dials. I think I'd wait for one that is more convincing and not so "prepared".

The luminous dots and the hash marks dont line up like a genuine dial...IWC sent watches to the USA with flawed dials in the 60's, but JLC didnt do that. I think redial and new hands, but more pics would confirm

I've seen a few of these some original and some refinished. In my opinion, the dial should always have a sunburst finish or textured finish in the center dial. This dial seems to be the same through out. The lume color in the hands vs dial plots also differs greatly.

@wkimmd "Automatic" text has serifs I would see if that holds up when you get hi-res photos

In conclusion, I feel the OP photo is too clean for a vintage watch. Proceed with caution & gather more information from the seller.

    GL! Thank you for sharing,

    Thomas
