Jaeger Lecoultre - It's an original watch ?

Hi everyone,

I was hunting like everyday and I've found this affordable Jaeger, she's not in a perfect condition but she's elegant and discreet, i'm not an expert so I've a lot of question, the seller told me it was an 1950's watch and it's hard to find other pieces like her on the web.

What do you think about that ? She has been checked by its watchmaker and (of course) she runs well 馃榾
What question to ask ?

Thanks.

NO.

The dial has been rather poorly refinished. Condition = price, as usual.

PASS.

My $0.02, "checked by a watchmaker" and serviced by one can mean two very different things, and likely mean nothing at all.

Has anyone ever seen an original JLC or LC dial with a hyphen within the LC, i.e. "LE-COULTRE"? If not, it seems like an incredibly obvious tell.

Sometimes I feel stupid when I read your answer ... "Le-Coultre" was a big clue for the bad redial

To be fair, one doesn't expect a dial refinisher to make obvious mistakes, so it's easy to overlook things like this. Who knows, perhaps there are some legitimate dials with hyphens, but if so, it's certainly not common. Mostly there is no space or gap within LeCoultre, it's one word.

It's someone's name & doesn't make sense. Like hyphenating Mc-Donalds. The refinisher could have just checked the movement.
