I think you may be right. First, I'm not sure these originally came with a black inner disc - the (misleadingly misnomered) tuxedo configuration only came with a blue inner: sometimes known as the "Claude Brasseur", the actor who wore it as the hard-man hero of the film "Il Faut Vivre Dangereusement".
Secondly, I think the fonts are slightly different, generally needing a bit more serif to them - given the short production run of this model, I doubt if there are variants in that respect. I see also that "T Swiss Made T" is in black on the OP dial.
Hands, furniture, lume are all OK. In short, I think what you may be looking at is a Memovox of the period that has had a relatively clean black inner disc installed subsequently. It may not be factory, but it looks nice, it looks "tuxedo"!
@TimeODanaos So the inner disk actually is blue, it might just be the lighting making it look black (I attached another photo). What is interesting about the font is that it is the same as the E855 font. I am thinking that this was a very early production unit that was stamped using similar/same equipment as the E855’s. Also attached are a couple photos of an E855 (notice the word “automatic” looks very similar, and the “T Swiss Made T” is also in black). Thoughts?
My, that is blue! You may be on to something. I would get some more info from the seller though, because the first set of photos really were misleading 😗

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the seller doesn't know anything about the history. It passed through a few hands before reaching him.
