Hi guys, this is my first sales listing on OF. Up for sale is my hard to find European market Jaeger-LeCoultre ref. E855 Memovox alarm watch, with a JLC signed buckle, bracelet (*see below), box, and signed papers. This piece was sold on September 24th, 1964 in Lucerne, Switzerland from a now defunct jeweller, Leicht-Mayer. This jeweller resided on a street named Haldenstrasse in Lucerne. This watch did not travel very far from the Vallée de Joux! The case The jumbo stainless steel case (37mm), with original crowns, maintains sharp lines and straight facets. The caseback remains unpolished but marked from case opening. However, the left side and top right lug side of the case show less brushing. Case #950751. The dial Untouched in near mint condition with an off white tone. The indices and hands are very clean with very minimal oxidation. Lume pips are aged to a nice yellow tone, only missing at 3 o’ clock. Note the light marking at 8’ o clock. The alarm disk is in good condition, with light, sparse marks seen near the periphery and more apparent marks near the center of the dial (underneath the hands); note the slight indentation on the left side (with alarm at 12). The movement The automatic bumper alarm caliber 825 has been fully serviced and timed by The German Watchmaker in September 2019. A daily rate of -10 s/day is observed. The alarm sets and winds smoothly, functions and rings strongly. **Note the photos of the movement were taken by my watchmaker before the overhaul. Movement #1680426. Also included is a period correct JLC Gay Freres bracelet (*purchased separately with the incorrect JLN end links however still fits great) with average stretch. Also including a few extra links. It is currently fitted to my 6.25 inch wrist but I can see it fitting up to a 7.5 inch wrist easily. This piece will come fitted with the light brown strap (with signed JLC buckle) shown in the images. Nice watch! Especially with the luminous dauphine hands and stick indices style dial. Crisp date disk too.
