I've been in the market for a nice stainless IWC vintage and not knowing the ins and outs of the brand, thought I'd run this one past the experts. Seems to have an original dial and hands and looks pretty good to my untrained eye. Price is sitting pretty firm around $2900 AUD ($3020US, £1920GBP). Seems steepish in price to me for a stainless 70s watch but it is IWC with a transitional dial?

Thanks for any info you can provide re originality and pricing.

Not well versed in IWC but looks correct and massively overpriced. My sense is that these go for around $2000, esp without bracelet.

This is all I have to offer you for comparison

It's an early to mid 70's piece - serial number on the movement dates that to 1972. That's certainly the correct IWC applied logo for that time period, and the dial looks correct. Now, it could be a redial but it's so good it wouldn't bother me if it was.

For $2900 I'd want PERFECTION and that watch is not. The case needs a lot of work, and the top surface has already been redone once - you can tell by the lug surfaces there was some dings or pitting the didn't come out. The asking price would have to be for a mint example on a bracelet with box & papers for me to justify it.

Thanks Dennis and LouS. I thought she was a tad overpriced!
Glad it's all original, I might try my persuasive bargaining skills and see how I go! Then again, I might just wait for a better example like yours LouS.
