Hey Forum, any IWC buffs out there? Looking at the Mark XII and it seems the crown has a fish, service crowns might be blank, but one I am looking at is different! Any thoughts on the “probus scafusia” stamped crown?

Thanks!

Mine has the fish -- I think the Probus Scafusia crown is from a much later Mk watch -- xv or later.

From my knowledge an "untampered" Mark XII, being produced from the mid to late 90s, should always have the "Fish" crown.
The "Probus Scafusia" crown was implemented sometime in the mid-2000s. This change has to do with some controversy over the original logo resembling a Christian symbol.
I've observed that earlier versions of the Mark XV (usually tritium or hybrid dial) came with the fish crown. Later versions with full luminova dial and hands seem to come with the Probus Scafusia.
Also from what I hear, IWC sometimes swap the crown out when you send a watch for service.
It is likely that this Mark XII has a service crown. The edges seem polished, which further supports my guess that this watch has had some work done on it.

Here is an interesting read.

Yes, service crown also to my knowledge. Not a dealbreaker in my book though. Mark XII is the perfect GADA watch and I would want it to be water proof

Blank service crowns I’ve never seen. Have IWC really done that?

I have never heard of blank crowns from IWC. Couldn't OP theoretically just buy a fish crown on ebay? These crown seem abundant and affordable.
