·For sale today a beautiful IWC with a caliber 89.
The Calibre 89 movement is one of the more important drivetrains to come out of the post war years. The Calibre 89 began its life inside the mind of Albert Pellaton, a movement designer that had cut his teeth at Vacheron Constantin and come to Schaffhausen as IWC's Technical Director in 1944. For his first major project, Pellaton penned the Calibre 89, building on the skeleton of the Calibre 83, which had been IWC's workhorse movement since the early 1930s.
This particular IWC in stainless steel is a good entry level into IWC. The 35mm case (without crown) is in good condition showing some light wear from use. The unsigned crown is original and era correct for the watch. The crystal remains in excellent condition showing no crazing. The lovely sunburst dial is in excellent condition. The original stainless steel dauphine style hands complete the overall stylistic presence of the watch. Lug width 18mm.
The watch will come supplied on a new and genuine alligator strap.
The watch is in working order at the point of listing and dispatch. However, service history is unknown.
Price: EUR 750
