First Post in the High end watch category but very much at the entry end. An IWC 1827. I have always loved the IWC yacht clubs but prices have gone above what I can afford. When I saw this 1827 at auction I made a speculative bid and was successful. Yes there is lume damage but its not unattractive to me and I am enjoying the fact that I own an Albert Pellaton designed movement.1000039045.jpg

1000039091.jpgI utilised whatssapp to get a little more info on my new acquisition and was taken with the polite and prompt responses from the bots at IWC

This is useful for dating your watch...http://moeb.on-rev.com/dyIWC/dyIWC.lc

Congrats on your new acquisition.
Thankyou so much. I will make use of that tool. I'm pretty sure it dates from 1970. IWC would issue a certificate with accurate dating but this would cost me around £277 sterling. Its not a particularly valuable watch so I'm not going to do this though.

Nice watch. Congrats. Those cal. 85x movements were among the very best of the mid-century automatics.

IWC operates their own Vintage IWC Forum.

There are pretty serious collectors there, kind of like our Universal Geneve Forum here.

They might be able to give you more insight or additional information.

Thankyou Tony. What lies beneath, as it were, is what really attracted me to this watch.

I have joined up but I cannot for the life of me work out how to upload my photos. My phone settings seemingly won't allow it.

Hi, nice catch.
If I remember it correctly, ref. 1827 is slightly smaller than the 811 (i.e. Yacht Club), but otherwise they are pretty much the same.
I suppose it has a 854 movement.
Someone already suggested the moeb site in order to have a date. Keep in mind that there are two serial numbers: one for the case and one for the movement. Those numbers are quite close, but they are different. I suppose yours should be around 1.9xx.xxx.
Congratulations and welcome among the IWC from the early '70s enthousiasts.

Thankyou. Yes, the 1827 is the more diminutive brother of the 1811. It comes in at around 34mm. I had my local watchmaker open the case and found the number to be 2062032. I didn't get a number off the movement though as I read this after visiting him.1000039504.jpg 1000039507.jpg
