Helloo you handsome, chunky son of a gun!

It's definitely not a slim Chrono, but I absolutely love the look of this thing.

Congratulations, what number do you have? I just bought one myself 513/1000 it arrived the day before I was leaving for holiday. There are plenty of 70’s Chrono watches with 15-16mm depth cases so the height was not an issue for me despite plenty of comments regards it being an issue.
I am a little disappointed with the pin and collar bracelet which I have yet to size considering the price but I knew it was like that before I bought and I got it at a good price so shouldn’t loose my ass if I decide to move it on in the future. I have quite a few Chrono’s currently.

Thanks! And that sounds like great timing :D.

This is #285. Totally agree on the pin and collar bracelet. It feels great after I sized it, but it really is a pain. I'm thinking I'll jump between the bracelet and a nato.

Oh that’s very nice Is that a new release? Seiko does so much I like and I miss so many releases I really like the innovation and variety they offer.

They released the watch in 2019 but I wasn't able to lock one down (or willing to pay!). After a few years, job promotions, and well-prepared value propositions to the wife...I was able to find one fairly quickly. It's certainly a chunky watch and I imagine some were ready to move on.

They released this in 2019 as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 6139 chronograph. Strangely, the watch they modelled it after was not a 6139, but rather a 6138 panda, which - having been released in 1970 - was only 49 years old at the time.
This caused the whole Seiko community to give a collective "WTF, Seiko?" The fact that Seiko would willingly botch their own storied history by confusing two beloved models, along with the high price, caused most Seiko enthusiasts to turn their noses up at this one (myself included).
Now that some time has passed, I think everyone has forgotten about or forgiven them for their bungled launch of this one and started to appreciate it more. It's a beautiful watch, with classic Seiko design elements reborn and the price is actually quite good, considering everything you're getting. I'd say it's a bargain in fact. Great buy, OP! Wear in good health :)
