Have any of you ever tried a "Yard-O-Led" fountain pen? They are made in England, I'm surprised a small company like that is still able to continue, especially after the 2020 debacle.

I like one or two of their pens but wonder if they're regarded as good by people with more experience than myself?

I didn’t know YoL made pens. I’d only seen their pencils which are attractive and seem to hold their value on eBay

Given their reputation, I’d imagine that they would be good although, as you may have seen, I’m a Parker pen aficionado, which is a reason that I don’t really try other brands.

About 25 years ago, someone gave me a Waterman similar to these and I’ve since always had at least one. I actually preferred the weight to a lighter Montblanc. The texture also was great back when I had to write a lot. I never use any of those anymore.

A couple of old, gold Watermans pens, both in working order - although I suspect the ink sacs may need replacing.

I had a very Pen weekend I must say, so pleasing.

Got my repair supplies, some ink sacs, shellac and french talc. Then I did some restoration on my Eversharp Symphony !

Cleaned the lever mechanism (a pain to get it in without the appropriate tools!), then replace ink sac, clean nib. Then put a new sac, align nib with the level system (OCD!)

I'm very satisfied with my results 😀

Quite a flexy and bouncy nib with great feedback!

I might need to fine-tune the nib with some alignment or very fine sanding... Left to right is a tab "scratchier" but overall very smooth writing.

Pictures time:

Nice handwriting but what’s the quotation from?

Thank you! And trying to improve my left-hand writing 😀

As per the quote, Writer's Blood is the ink colour/name from the brand Diamine 😉

Congrats on the repair!

Thank you! The next one is my other Symphony with the odd pump system...

I'm now looking for a spring to replace "accordion" filling system (seems to have been a French thing) and use a standard sac in it... Trying to make something similar to this

Recently I bought this Sailor Pro Gear with a fine nib. I had no intention of buying a pen, this one was offer and the last one in the shop. Even so, I waited a few days to see if I really wanted it. After 3 days it was still available and I took the plunge. Image is from the internet. It hasn't arrived yet.

I appreciate that this may only be of interest to a minority of OF, but I’m pleased to read that King Charles has renewed the Royal Warrant for the Parker Pen Company.

The king was upset by a pen he was given to use in signing a document in 2022, describing it, “I can’t bear this bloody thing…”, after it leaked ink.

I’m assuming it wasn’t a Parker …

I was forced to write with a fountain(?) pen in school and that gave me a certain aversion against them unfortunately. But this stainless Parker ball point pen I inherited is just a dream to use. And just my style too.

When I worked enjoyed writing with a fountain pen with my favorite being the Pelikan M1000.

A few new additions
Absolutely love seeing people use an FA nib!!!

Though vastly different, I write with six Pilot Falcons/Elabos for my daily workflow, all inked with different colours. I am looking to one day add an FA nib, a Custom 912 with the Posting nib, and the Pilot Justice to my collection.

NPA

Osmia 884 with a BBL gold nib.
Flex heaven, but in a daily usable way.

Beautiful ink colour there - what was the ink used?

So here is something different. A combined gilt pen, pencil and quill cutter in three barrels, with a wax holder beneath and a little crest/monogram plate. It dates from 1860s and is probably European. I have not seen another like it.

Well, currently it doesn't write at all. The ink must be dry. Not sure I want to put it underwater, though... also I'm curious what type of paper they tested it on to make such a claim.
Did you get a refill and use it? What do you think of it? How about you @sxl2004, are you a fan of the spacepen? I am thinking of getting one. I pretty much only use disposable ballpoint pens. I like a pen that doesn't roll too fast or leave wet ink that takes time to dry. If a pen rolls too fast my hand writing becomes unreadable, and I prefer not to worry about smearing ink. Any other thoughts are welcome.

I would try a new cartridge refill.

Unfortunately I am not using ball points a lot, so no real recollection.
I have the same problem with my handwriting and really well gliding pens. Unreadable but who is reading my scribbles anyway 😊
