Is this watch overpriced? Omega Seamaster DeVille 14K gold

Hi everyone! I’m trying to buy a watch for my husband for a significant life event. He has talked before about how much he likes a particular comedian’s watch, I went down a rabbit hole, and found that it’s a gold vintage omega seamaster deville. I promise that I’ve done research, read all of the guides, watched YouTube videos, but I still am lost as to whether dials are actually repainted, whether watches have original components, and what constitutes a good price.

I’d love to get him a solid gold one rather than a stainless steel plated one. Could anyone please help by guiding me in the right direction and letting me know if the following watch is in a good ballpark for cost?

Sorry for the dumb question 🙈

Welcome BeckyM. Not a dumb question at all. Are you in a hurry for a deadline? The watch you inquire about is nice but very overpriced.
By luck there is just this watch for sale here on OF Private watch sales thread from a trusted member for 1/2 that price, and a good example too.
Members sell to each other there at fairer “collector” prices and you can trust the sellers and descriptions. I have no connection to seller btw.
You can direct message seller to inquire

Good luck they are nice vintage watches.

Wow, this community is amazing! Thank you so much for your help.

No hurry (in fact, I’m two months ahead 😂), so I’ll give this a shot!

That watch is probably going to be too small. 32mm. And given the size, this is not a desirable men's watch, so hugely overpriced. Unless you're absolutely sure he has a tiny wrist, stick with a 34mm minimum. Even that is small for many men.

Which comedian wears this watch?
His name is Rick Glassman, but I don’t know much more about him. Neither does my husband, for that matter. I’ll have to ask my son for more info about him since he shared the video originally.

This the one?
Yes!! When I researched it, the common guess seemed to be “probably a vintage omega Seamaster DeVille or similar,” but people seemed to generally be unsure. Are you thinking it’s something else?

The photo isn't great and there are better sleuths on here than me, but I can see how a vintage DeVille could be a good guess. The DeVille has very straight lugs and it's fairly small. But it's just a good guess with that pic quality.

Here's another pic, not much better than the first but the same watch.

The watch you're looking at would wear exactly like this one -- whether or not it's the same exact ref. If you're certain the small size isn't an issue I agree the one for sale on the forum right now looks nice and would serve as a good daily driver.
