I am on the verge of purchasing if this watch is the real deal? I haven't seen one like it, in searching ebay or the web, which raises suspicion.
I'd be grateful if you guys could take a look at it and tell me if it's real.
    Many thanks

    Real.

Crown is a replacement, that's not a big deal.
These are generally in good condition as tinkerers can't get into them as the working parts have to come out through the front of the case.

It looks a bit re-finished to me, soft edges on the back etc.

It looks OK considering, however, the big question is, how much is it?

And the other question is, how much do you want it?

    Thanks for your reply Jim.
I want it a lot, as it's a nice looking watch. I haven't seen many like it. The price is £350 GBP. For this, the seller will have it serviced and put a new leather Omega strap on it. How much would you say it was worth.. Is that a fair price?

Is that a Seamaster Cosmic 166.086 with a Seamaster Sparkle 166.032 dial on it? If so, that's why you haven't seen it anywhere in your searches - it's a franken. Pass at any price unless you need parts for a caliber 75x.

I'm not sure i need parts for a caliber 75x. I thought I needed parts for a Cooper 1.3i in 1993, and that went completely wrong when purchasing an '90 XR3i.
I think i'll keep clear then, I cba to have a franken at any price, else my friends will be like 'OMG'.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Also appears that the onyx inserts on the hour markers are missing, and black paint has been used to fill it in.

Omega pretty much had replaced the onyx with black paint sometime in the mid 60's. Seeing as the Sparkle wasn't made until 1967, it came with paint standard. I'm not sure about the solid gold models though - haven't inspected enough to be sure, but some members here would know.
