Is this Speedmaster "patina" normal?

Not sure if this is the inside of the crystal or maybe the tension ring or some else. I noticed it a few days ago when looking closely at the dial. It appears to look like a finishing is coming off. Any info is appreciated. Its a 3570.50 from 2012.

To be totally honest, I think you are looking too closely. It's just a watch.

to clarify this, ask a watchmaker to open it. But do you think it really make sence for it...

The part in question is the tension ring for the crystal. Looks like the finish on it was not done well, or was damaged at some point. Have you had the watch serviced?

I don't think this is going to cause a problem really, so having the crystal swapped at the next service would resolve this.

It was serviced about a month ago. But I have no idea if its new or been there the whole time as I just noticed it. Ive had the watch for about 3 years.

Maybe it happened during the service? Do you have any close up shots of the watch prior to it being serviced?

I don't unfortunately. I really have no idea if its been there since I've had it, progressed over time, or all at once. Just wondering if this happens to Speedys often or a one off.

    Maybe a generic tension ring?

since you weren’t aware of it when you first received it and you recently had work done, it could be any number of things. Another thing is that Patina is code for defect. You’re either going to like it or you don’t.

At this point, up your options are to watch it and see if it progresses; thus is a defect (ie., patina). If it’s bothering you, you can always send it back to the service center and have them fix it.

    good luck!
