Hi folks, just down the road from me, is this watch legit?

I'm no expert but I think I'd ask for better pictures and post them on here. I can barely make out the font on the inside of the case back And the description seems shady.. If they have ebay references that might help but their ebay history is good just not in depth enough for me. If this helps at all. Good luck I hope it checks out

Perhaps. But you need better pics all around.

Dial: should have Swiss Made at 6 o'clock, radium lume recessed pits
Movement number must be correct and caliber 55x
Hands are usually dagger minute hand for a 14755-61, see below. The eBay example with two dauphine hands and a tear drop seconds hand are, perhaps, acceptable but normally seen on later 165.014s
    Bezel Bakelite is completely gone
Crown is ok, case seems ok

It's not the nicest 14755-61 around but it could be mostly correct and it is, for today's market, available and not too expensive. It's important to remember that early sm300 were tool diving watches and many did not survive. Those that did survive hard use, like the eBay example, are beat up.

    A nicer example

For me it is price ... without bezel insert this significantly decreases value I think it should go for half ... there does not seem to be much pretty patina... 14755-61 got for less than half the eBay ask IMG_1805.JPG

I dunno, that 2913-8 that sold for 11k+ didn't have a bezel insert either, and it's just one generation away from this 14755-61.

I find this one ugly and over priced, for that amount of $ I always want an attractive watch that I can be proud of. If I bought this one and was to give it a name, the name I'm sure would be "Regret"

Unfortunately the recent rise in value of Omega Sports and Tool watches has led to a sellers market.
Too many buyers for too few watches has generated a price hike.
It seems that even relatively poor examples put up for sale see substantial buyer interest and higher than deserved prices.

The dial is a show stopper at first sight...
I dont even look at the entire watch when the dial is not my taste...
That's why I jumped on this one...:)
