Is this Seamaster 1020 a fake?

Hi everyone - I’m trying to figure out if this piece is genuine and am no expert. Any expert insight from the community much appreciated.

It’s a 1020 calibre (or possibly a replica of one!) based on the engraving on the back. You can see this v faintly in one of the images below. I don’t have the tools to open it up to look at the movement unfortunately.

Thanks v much.

Hi Fred,
And welcome.
Why do you think it’s a fake?
The 1020 movement is not the most sought after Omega and seem, generally to be going for £400-500 - so, not expensive.

Yours looks nice.

Thanks Spruce. To be honest, nothing specific. More had just read a few things that made me want to look into it. The only thing that caught my eye was on the logo typeface. The "O" on Omega appears almost a bit flatter or stretched, if that makes sense, compared to the genuine logo and indeed on many other examples from that era, where the O looks taller and perfectly round - might just be my eyes! On the other hand, all the other elements seem to stack up and it's pretty old, not most sought after, like you say. I'm no expert at all, so just generally intrigued to see what others thought.

You haven’t mentioned the price, which is always relevant. Also worth noting how the seller describes the watch (because if it’s misleading you can return/complain) or if he accepts returns.

Thanks. Price a fair bit above the range you gave - I think I may have overpaid a bit (!) but I really liked the look and, while quite a few 1020s out there, couldn't find another like this one. The description and the advice the seller gave all seemed honest and reliable to my uneducated eye, so no red flags there. I just read a few things that made me question whether it could be fake. Does anything jump out to you from the photos? Presumably not. Thanks

Often times that can be due to a redial rather than flat out being fake!

I think the dial is original but the case seems quite polished. If unserviced I’d say this should be in the £300-400 range.
